Kathryn R. Smith
Kathy Smith, MEd/RPED
President/Treasurer
Kathryn Smith has been connected with Special Education for over 33 years (and counting!) as a teacher, supervisor, diagnostician, and special education director in private, public, and charter school settings and continues to do so in her "retirement." She earned a Master’s in Education, with certification in early childhood/exceptional child, kindergarten, elementary education, reading specialist, learning disabilities, supervisor, and educational diagnostician in Texas, and mild/moderate and emotionally handicapped out of state , and has a degree in horse management, and received therapeutic riding instructor training as part of being awarded a grant to start a Special Olympics Equine program for Robertson County. She has been a team roper, still loves to ride, is a safety boater and kayak instructor for church and scout groups, assists with multi-day downriver trips, plays guitar at a retirement home, and is currently pursuing international certification as a life coach. Her favorite awards, however, were for art, creativity, first place in women’s solo kayaking, most miles paddled-women, and for "fighting the brave bull" in Mexico. She is the founder of S-R Ranch, Camp, and Retreat. She also serves as Camp Director for Special Needs and Wounded Warrior Activities.

Matthew Renner has been a resource to the USDA, assisted with Texas A&M Graduate Studies regarding the Feral Hog’s impact on Ecoli in watersheds, Outlined wild hog hunting techniques for Chasing Shakespeares, a novel written by New York Times Bestselling author Sarah Smith, given talks on Feral Hog Management in a variety of venues from the College setting to Wildlife Organizations, written and published articles on the subject, worked with various corporations on a variety of wildlife control issues, and is a resource to numerous farmers, ranchers, and hunters alike. He is currently involved in a local wildlife association as one of its Directors and holds a seat on the Board. Matthew has been personally hunting and trapping feral hogs as well as educating the public since 1993 and has been an avid hunter and outdoorsman for longer than that.

Dr. Simin Azalea
Dr. Simin Azalea, psychologist/artist
Director of Art and Emotional Wellbeing
After moving to the US in 1974 with a Master’s degree in Social Sciences (a mix of sociology and psychology), Simin attended Indiana University, earning a doctoral degree in Education and Administration. Then she moved to Houston and went back to school for a second Master’s degree in Psychology at the University of Houston, Clear Lake. She is a closet artist, who enjoys all media, recently exploring water colors. Her house, where ever she is living, is filled with beautiful antique furniture, artwork she has produced herself, and a lovely outdoor garden and patio. She would enjoy conducting a workshop on helping others find their own creative niche through drawing or painting. Participants will be asked to think of something that touched their life and explore artistic media that could represent that experience.

Yvonne Ryba studied religion and spiritual growth both at home in England and here, in the United States. She hosts a study group twice a month and sends out a weekly newsletter to her subscribers. She has been intervied on television by David Misch, who wrote the "Mork and Mindy" series and "Three's Company," and she is often called upon to present lectures and workshops, as well as working as a Life Coach helping clients reach in their spiritual pursuit for happiness.
